- Preschool/Kindergarten Department
Overview of the
Preschool/Kindergarten Program
The SCAIHS Preschool/Kindergarten Program is an arm of the
Elementary Program fashioned for families with children ages 5 and
under. Families enrolled in this limited-service program receive the
SCAIHS Advantage newsletter as well as have access to our teacher
training seminars and the Resource Room.
FAQs:
When do I have to register my child as a kindergartener?
You must register your child the school year he/she is five years
of age before September 1.
If my child is six years of age on or after September 1 of the
current school year, must he/she be registered as a “K5” student
even though he/she is ready for 1st grade level work?
SCAIHS gives you an enrollment option:
Option 1: You may enroll your child as a 1st grader,
pay full membership fees, and complete full reporting requirements.
Curriculum counseling, record keeping, and transcripts are some of
the key benefits that accompany this option.
Option 2: You may enroll your child as a “K5” student
but teach him/her on the 1st grade level. By doing this, you
eliminate paying the full membership fees and meeting the reporting
requirements.
We recommend, if you choose this option, that you keep records of
your lessons and samples of your student’s 1st grade work. Then, the
following year, your options with SCAIHS continue as you may enroll
your child as either a 1st or 2nd grader.
