Rule for Learner’s Permit Applicants
Before issuing
a learner’s permit, the Department of Motor Vehicles requires proof of
residency, social security number, and a birth certificate. Since
home schoolers have no school ID, you will need to request an official letter from SCAIHS
showing that your child is enrolled in your home school through our association. Please
allow SCAIHS ten days to process your request. You
should also write a letter indicating that you are the parent, that your child lives with
you, and that you are home schooling him/her legally under the supervision of SCAIHS. Inclusion of these two letters with the other
requirements has led to approval of the form for a learner’s permit.
