FAQ’s
What services do you offer that will facilitate educating my
elementary-aged child?
One of the key elements that draws people toward enrolling with the
SCAIHS Elementary Program is the personal contact with experienced
elementary staff throughout the year. Curriculum
counseling, transcripts, overseeing reports, teaching tips, etc.,
are all part of the services that we offer to meet the individual
needs of your child.
How do I know which materials would be the best for my child?
So many are available today, that making choices can be
overwhelming! That is why our trained counselors are available daily
to answer members’ questions via phone, email, or in person. We have
a Resource Room equipped with over 3,000 textbooks, teacher
reference books, audio and video tapes, etc. We try to match these
options in a way that best suits parents and their children.
What reporting is required during the course of the school
year?
Two Progress Reports that chart attendance as well as academic
progress in each of the four required subject areas (i.e. language
arts, math, science, and social studies) are required. The Year-end
Report Card is submitted with the second Progress Report along with
standardized testing results for students registered in grades 3-6.
Are your transcripts found to be acceptable if/when my child
transfers back to a traditional classroom setting?
At present, we have received all positive feedback from the
elementary transcripts that we have issued! The concise,
straightforward format of our transcript summarizes the thrust of a
child’s home-schooling activities in a way that is readily
acceptable to other institutions.
Placement Guidelines for Elementary Students
The SCAIHS Elementary Department welcomes students who are
classified as 6-year-old kindergarteners through 6th grade. A
Student Enrollment Form and
Proposed Course of Study must be
submitted with the application for each student enrolled in these
grades. The Proposed Course of Study charts the general course of
the school year, allowing flexibility in academic rigor while
outlining educational goals for the year.
Please note: those students performing two or more grades below
grade level will need to enroll with our Special Needs Program.
